Man dies suddenly following assault in Bournemouth

A murder investigation's underway following the sudden death of a man in Bournemouth.

Police say the man, who's in his 60s, had been assaulted outside the Carlton Hotel in East Overcliff at around 1pm on 25 February.

He died suddenly at a house on Redhill Avenue three days later.

A 46-year-old man from Bournemouth's been arrested on suspicion of murder.

He remains in police custody.

Detective Inspector Shaun Inkpen, from the Major Crime Investigation Team , said: “A full investigation has been launched and we are supporting the victim’s family as our enquiries continue.

“As part of my investigation, I am seeking witnesses to the reported assault that occurred on Tuesday 25 February 2025. If you saw what happened, please come forward as you may have vital information to assist my enquiries.

“There will be an increased police presence in the area as our investigative work continues and we would encourage anyone with information or concerns to please speak with an officer.

“I would like to add this investigation is in the very early stages and I am keeping an open mind as to the circumstances of the death.”
