A man seriously injured in a collision near Wimborne has died in hospital.

It happened on Holt Road in Mannington at around 4.40pm last Tuesday afternoon (8th August).

Police say there's no evidence the victim, in his 30s, who was a passenger in a Mazda car, exited the vehicle as it was moving.

He was airlifted to hospital following the incident, but died of his injuries on Friday (11th August).

A 45-year-old man from Verwood remains under investigation on suspicion of driving offences.

He was previously arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm, but has been released without charge in relation to that offence.

Inspector Craig Tatton, of the Roads Policing Team, said:

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time.

“After our initial investigation, we do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the male passenger exiting the vehicle and our enquiries are continuing into the driving offence.”
