A man in his 60s from Christchurch has died following a crash in the town.

Dorset Police tell us they were called at 2.40pm yesterday (Monday 26th September) to reports of a grey Citroen Berlingo, colliding with a parked vehicle on Cowleys Road.

Officers found he was in need of medical attention, with an ambulance attended, but the driver died at the scene.

His next of kin has been informed.

Sergeant Richard Stroud, of the traffic unit, said:

“From our initial enquiries we believe it is possible the driver may have suffered a medical episode. Our thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened to please get in touch.

“I would also like to hear from any motorists who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.

“Finally, I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while the road closure was in place. This was absolutely necessary to allow us to carry out a thorough examination of the scene.”
