A man has been charged and is due to appear in court in connection with an allegation of impersonating a police officer in Poole.

At around 10.30pm on Saturday 20 May it was reported that a Vauxhall Combo van with blue flashing lights stopped a vehicle in the area of Springdale Road.

A man allegedly got out of the van and presented himself as a police officer or special constable, before letting the other vehicle carry on its journey.

Following enquiries, a 50-year-old man from Poole was arrested in connection with the incident.

He has now been charged with impersonating a police officer and using a vehicle on a road fitted with a blue warning beacon and is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday 7 July 2023.

He will also appear in connection with two further allegations of impersonating a police officer – relating to incidents at Gravel Hill in Poole on 25 January 2023 and Victoria Road in Wimborne on 4 February 2023 – as well as two further linked incidents of using a vehicle fitted with a blue warning beacon.
