Man charged in connection with fatal crash involving a highways lorry

A man has been charged and is due to appear in court in connection with a fatal collision in Dorset.

Dorset Police received a report at 11.10am on Tuesday (5 July) of a collision in Redwood Drive in Ferndown involving a highways lorry that was carrying out resurfacing work and a male pedestrian.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said:

"Officers attended along with the ambulance service and very sadly the pedestrian, a 54-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family are being supported by specially-trained officers.

"A man aged in his 30s was arrested in connection with the incident and has now been charged with causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving."

He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court today Thursday 7 July.
