A man has been charged, and is due in court today, in connection with drug crimes in Dorset.
The man was stopped by police officers in Bournemouth, who found nearly 50 bags of what's believed to be cocaine, with an estimated street value of over £4,000.
He's due to appear at Poole Magistrate's Court today (Wednesday, 10 August), charged with possessing a class A drug with intent to supply.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said:
"Officers from the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Neighbourhood Enforcement Team (NET) stopped a vehicle in Rushton Crescent in Bournemouth at around 8.50pm on Monday 8 August 2022.
"The occupant of the vehicle was alleged to be part of an Albanian organised crime group selling cocaine in the area.
"A search of the man and his vehicle reportedly uncovered nearly 50 bags of what was believed to be cocaine, with an estimated potential street value of more than £4,000."
It's all part of an ongoing police operation, to tackle the drug gang activities in Dorset.
Police Constable John Upsher, of the NET, said:
“Through Op Viper we are working proactively to tackle suspected gangs involved in the supply of class A drugs in our area as we recognise the impact this has on our communities.
“We will take robust action to disrupt their activities and prosecute those believed to be involved, as well as striving to protect vulnerable people who may be exploited by these gangs."
