Man charged with allegedly assaulting 3 emergency workers on Portland

A man's due in court today charged with allegedly assaulting 3 emergency workers during an incident on Portland.

Police, including firearms officers were called to a disturbance at an address in East Weare Road at around 8pm on Tuesday evening. (16 March)

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said:

"Officers, including specially trained officers and firearms officers, attended the scene.

"Road closures were put in place at the junction of Harbour View Road to allow officers to engage with the man while keeping members of the public safe.

"The incident was brought to a safe conclusion just before 10.40pm."

A 39-year-old local man was arrested in connection with the incident and has now been charged with affray, assault by beating an emergency worker and two counts of common assault of an emergency worker.

He is due to appear at Weymouth Magistrates' Court today (18 March).
