Man in his 60's bitten by dog in Weymouth

Dorset Police have issued a description of a dog and its owner after a man was bitten in Weymouth

A man in his 60's was walking on the Rodwell Trail in Weymouth when he was bitten by a dog.

Officers investigating the incident are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

At around 7.30am on Tuesday 14th September 2021 the man was walking between the Buxton Road bridge and Wyke Road tunnel when another man with a dog off the lead walked past him. The dog turned round and bit the man on the ankle, piercing his skin.

Description

The man with the dog is described as white, aged in his 60s, around five feet ten inches tall and of medium build. He was wearing a light-coloured or high vis jacket.

The dog involved is described as a mixed breed, of medium size and an off-white colour with brown patches.

Police Constable Jennie Sykes-Martin, of Dorset Police, said:

“We are carrying out enquiries into this incident and I would appeal to any witnesses, or anyone who recognises the dog owner involved from the description given, to please come forward.

“I would also urge the dog owner to do the right thing and get in touch with us so we can take your account.”
