A man's been beaten unconscious during an assault in Weymouth.

Dorset Police say the incident happened between 12.15am and 12.40am on Friday (30 July) on the Rodwell Trail, around 50 metres from the Abbotsbury Road entrance to the trail.

The victim, a man aged in his 40s, was struck to his back and saw four men, one of whom was making threats toward him.

As the victim tried to walk away he was struck again to his face, causing him to fall to the ground.

He remembered being kicked on the ground before losing consciousness.

He was later checked over by the ambulance service.

Police Constable Connor Lombardo, of Weymouth police, said:

“We are carrying out enquiries into this assault and I would urge anyone who was in the area on the night of the incident and witnessed any suspicious activity to please contact us.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who has any further information that might assist our investigation.”
