A woman in her 50s has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in Bournemouth.

The pedestrian was involved in a collision with a white Nissan Micra in Poole Road in Westbourne on Tuesday morning.

Police said the woman was taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

A 47-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of driving offences.

Police Sergeant Gareth Thomas, from Dorset Police, said: "I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or the manner of driving of the Nissan Micra in the moments leading up to the collision, to please come forward.

"I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage from the Poole Road area of Westbourne at around 11.20am on Tuesday 8 November 2022."
