Man in his 60s seriously injured after being hit by car in Bournemouth

A man in his 60s has suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car in Bournemouth.

Dorset Police received a report at 7.44am this morning (12 January) of a collision involving a blue Vauxhall Astra and a pedestrian in Florence Road, at the junction with Grantley Road.

The pedestrian – a local man aged in his 60s – was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

The driver of the Vauxhall was uninjured.

Police appeal

Police Constable Gavin Newbury, of the traffic unit, said: “Enquiries are underway to establish exactly what happened and I would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision.

“I am also particularly keen to hear from any motorists who were travelling in the vicinity and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.

“Finally, I would like to thank the public for their patience while emergency services dealt with the incident. The road closure enabled emergency services to safely treat the injured person.”
