Two arrests in Bournemouth after teenager found with machete
Officers are appealing for witnesses following suspicion of knife offences
Two 16-year-old boys have been arrested after police recovered a machete in King John Avenue.
At around 9pm on Monday (9 June), officers located the 16-year-old boy from Poole and a knife was recovered.
He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possessing of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place and a 16-year-old boy from Christchurch was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
Both remain in police custody at this time.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Police Staff Investigator Alice Harmsworth, of Bournemouth police, said: “We are carrying out a detailed investigation into this reported incident and I would urge any witnesses or anyone who has any information that might assist our enquiries, to please get in touch.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have been driving in the area at the time and captured relevant dashcam footage.
“We understand this reported incident may cause concern among the community and we want to re-assure residents we take knife crime very seriously and it is a Force priority to tackle knife related offences. Our officers can be approached at any time with concerns.”
