People in Lyme Regis will once again be able to visit their police station to talk to officers.

The front desk is being reopened two days a week on Tuesday and Thursday 09.30 to 15.30.

The move has been welcomed by Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset.

He says it's a key step forward in the fight against Anti Social Behaviour and Drug Crime.

Mr Loder said: “It’s brilliant news that Lyme Regis Police Station’s front-desk is now re-open. The town has been without a functioning front-desk since 2011 and I am very glad that the service has now been restored by Dorset Police and I am grateful to Police Commissioner David Sidwick for prioritising Lyme Regis with extra services.”

He continued: “Our local community in Lyme Regis has struggled with disruptive Anti-Social Behaviour and drug crime. There is absolutely no excuse for this behaviour, and I hope that the re-opening of the front-desk will make reporting crime in-person more accessible and enable a much faster response to tackle these issues.”
