Littlemoor residents seek solution for catapult attack and intimdation
A meeting's being held with police tonight.
Littlemoor residents are meeting with police officers tonight over worries surrounding anti-social behaviour.
It's thought some people are afraid of leaving their homes at night because of catapult attacks and intimidation from young people in the area.
Last year a double-edged approach was suggested by some councillors who believe police need to crack down on the main offenders. They aslo suggest more needs to be done to give youngsters something to do.
Tonight's meeting takes place at 7pm in the Community Hall on Canberra Road.
Tony Alee co-ordinates the Littlemoor Safety Forum. He said:
"The police are on the estate most evenings having to chase kids for being anti-social.
"I think it's down to the parents actually, the parents are aware, the police have been visiting houses advising parents of their children's behaviour, but it still continues.
"Albeit, we appreciate there is nothing on the estate for children to do, but there are hobbies which people could get involved with. There are activities other than going out causing problems."
Tony says when one gang gets dealt with, another springs up and it's down to parents to stop the behaviour from home.
Now, many think Littlemoor is getting bad press. Tony added:
"It's always because of the anti-social behaviour or wrong-doing within the area. Some residents think Littlemoor is getting bad press. It's not bad press, it's correct reporting, but it does show a bad light on Littlemoor.
"What can we do to ease it? Get rid of the anti-social behaviour."
