Lifeboat crews have pulled a person out of the water near Bournemouth Pier.
The Coastguard were called to reports of a person in difficulty in the water at 9:30pm on Saturday.
After manoeuvring themselves close to the person, crews threw a line out to them, using this to lift them onboard their lifeboat.
The person was wrapped up after being found "extremely cold", before being transferred to ambulance crews for treatment.
Lifeboat crews have thanked a bystander who called 999, adding "any delay could have resulted in a very different outcome."
