Large fire breaks out at recycling centre near Poole

A large fire has broken out at a recycling centre near Poole.

2\0 firefighters were called to tackle the blaze at Ling Road near Tower Park at 5am this morning.

People living in the area have been told to keep their doors and windows closed.

A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said:

"Pumping appliances from Poole, Hamworthy, Redhill Park, Ferndown, Westbourne and Springbourne were mobilised along with special appliance from Dorchester and Poole were mobilised.

"Firefighters in breathing apparatus use two main lines, one hose reel jet and one safety jet to tackle the fire.

"A total of 20 firefighters in breathing apparatus extinguished the fire and the incident will be scaled back shortly to three pumps.

"Crews remain on scene to dampen down and assist site staff."
