Kite surfer found clinging to buoy in Portland Harbour

Coastguard rescue teams and Weymouth Lifeboat were scrambled to help a kite surfer in difficulty

A kite surfer's been rescued after being found clinging to a marker bouy in Portland Harbour.

Coastguard rescue teams were scrambled yesterday morning, alongside Weymouth Inshore Lifeboat.

A spokesperson for Portland Bill Coastguard Rescue Team said:

"Weymouth Lifeboat was launched and once on scene, was guided onto the kite surfer position by the teams on the shore.

"Weymouth Lifeboat crew recovered the casualty and conducted a welfare check, with the kite surfer found to be fit and well they were returned to shore to be met by the awaiting coastguard teams."
