An injured seal pup rescued at Portland Bill has sadly died.

Volunteers from Portland Coastguard Rescue Team were called out on Sunday afternoon (3 January) to help the RSPCA.

The seal pup was found on Boat Haul Beach near the Lobster Pot Café.

It was taken away by RSPCA officers to be cared for at West Hatch.

Sadly a vet there decided that it's recovery would be unlikely and the seal pup was put to sleep.

It's thought its injuries were likely to have been caused by a boat propeller.
