Human remains found in wooded area in Bournemouth

Dorset Police are working to establish the circumstances

Human remains have been found in a wooded area in Bournemouth, with an investigation underway by Dorset Police.

Officers were called to a space off Riverside Avenue at around 8.40am on Saturday (26th April).

A cordon was put in place while emergency services were on the scene, but it's since been removed.

We're told the death is believed to be 'non-recent' with the incident not currently being treated as suspicious.

In a statement, a Dorset Police spokesperson said:

"Dorset Police received a report at 8.41am on Saturday 26th April 2025 that human remains had been found in a wooded area off Riverside Avenue in Bournemouth. Officers attended the scene and a cordon was put in place.

"A full investigation is ongoing to establish the identity of the person and the full circumstances of the death, which appears to be non-recent. There is nothing to indicate the death is suspicious at this time."
