It was part of national action during the G7 summit to draw attention to the threats posed by sea-level rise, ocean acidification, ocean warming and pollution.
Caz Dennet is one of the organisers. We asked her why she was dining in the sea:
"Well, we're drowning in promises is what we're doing because as you can see, the sea level is rising and our global leaders really aren't taking this issue seriously at all.
"So that's why we're here, and we expect to be sat here probably for a few years to come until something is done about climate change and sea level rise."
She added:
"We have to really stop burning fossil fuels like it's having absolutely no effect on the environment or on global heating temperature rises increasing we are knowingly burning more fossil fuel now than we ever have done before. We have all the solutions and technology to stop this.
"You know, we can switch. We can do this. Humans are very creative and we are very optimistic. But we we do need to start to take action very very soon. In fact so soon it should have been 10 years ago."
