Firefighters rescue dogs and cats from a house fire in Weymouth

Firefighters have rescued four animals from a house fire in Weymouth.

Crews was called to a property on Pipit Close in Littlemoor at around 10.40am on Saturday, September 3rd, and helped two dogs and two cats.

They given oxygen by firefighters using specialist equipment for pets, donated by national charity Smokey Paws.

The blaze was put out using breathing apparatus and hose reel jets.

A spokesman for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said:

"We were called to a mid-terraced property in Pipit Close, Weymouth at 10.42am on Saturday morning for a fire in the ground floor kitchen.

"Four fire crews attended, from Weymouth, Dorchester, Portland and Bere Regis, and four breathing apparatus wearers used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

"Two dogs and two cats were rescued from the house, and were given oxygen using equipment donated by the Smokey Paws charity.

There's no indication at this stage as to how the fire started.
