Horse and rider injured after collision with bus in Weymouth
A police investigation's been launched
A horse and rider have been injured after being involved in a collision with a bus in Weymouth.
Dorset Police have just released details of the incident that happened around 3pm last Saturday (8th May) on Dorchester Road, near to the junction with Lorton Lane.
It is reported the white Volvo single decker bus did not stop at the scene, but following enquiries it has been identified.
The horse has sustained injuries and is receiving medical treatment. The horse rider - a local woman aged in her 20s - sustained bruising.
Police appeal
Police Constable Anne-Marie Lee, of Weymouth police, said:
"This incident has understandably left the horse rider feeling very shaken and I am carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened.
"I would ask any motorists who were travelling in the area around the time of the collision to please check their dashcams for any relevant footage.
"I understand a number of people stopped to help the horse rider and I would ask them to please get in touch as they may have important information to assist my enquiries."
