Helicopter rescues two people cut off by tide near Charmouth

Two people have been rescued by the coastguard helicopter after getting cut off by the tide on the Dorset coast.

Coastguards have just released details of the incident that happened near Charmouth on Monday. (24 May)

West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team were called to the incident.

A spokesperson said:

"Two persons had been cut off by the tide to the West of Charmouth under Black Venn.

"Officers from West Bay helped set up and secure an emergency helicopter landing site in Lyme Regis for the inbound rescue helicopter.

"The helicopter safely recovered the trapped casualties and an RNLI crew member from their position under the cliffs and returned them to the landing site."
