A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said:

Crews from Wareham and Dorchester, Wareham’s Unimog, a small 4x4 pumping appliance from Bere Regis and water carrier from Poole attended the incident which involved an area of heath and grassland measuring approximately 70m x 40m.

"The fire was extinguished using hose reel jets and a main line – our stop came at 3.18pm with crews remaining on scene for some time dampening down.

"A reinspection was carried out this morning and a single hotspot was found and extinguished."
