Free physical activity sessions are being held in Wimborne to encourage people to get outdoors, get some exercise and make some new friends.

You can join in with short guided walks, with a specially trained volunteer.

You can also take part in free outdoor fitness sessions each Tuesday evening from May 2nd, with an instructor on a new outdoor fitness circuit at Bytheway Field.

The health walks start from Wimborne library on Mondays (not Bank Holidays) and Tuesdays every week.

Cllr Peter Wharf, Dorset Council’s Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Adult Social Care and Health, said:

“Being active outdoors is good not just for your body, but also for your mind. Exercising in an outdoor environment can improve mood, reduce levels of depression, reduce stress, lower blood pressure and heart rate. What better reason to get out there and enjoy what Dorset has to offer?

"These sessions are free, friendly and you do not need to book in advance. There is no long-term commitment, so whether you are looking to improve your health and wellbeing, and/or hoping to have a nice chat with some new friends, these activities have something for everyone.”
