Have your say on Dorset's response to the climate emergency
The consultation ends next week
You have a week left to have your say on Dorset’s response to the climate emergency.
The council plans for its services and estate to be carbon neutral by 2040, and they want your views on ideas to make that happen.
It’s also hoped the whole Dorset Council area will be carbon neutral, meaning we save more carbon then we produce, by 2050.
The council says climate change will have a direct impact on the county, with an increase in flooding and coastal erosion, which will eventually become problematic for communities and businesses.
Dorset’s diverse ecosystem is also at risk because of climate change.
Cllr Ray Bryan, Dorset Council's Portfolio Holder for Highways, Travel and Environment, said:
"We want as many people to respond to our Climate and Ecological Emergency Strategy consultation as possible, but the deadline for responses is approaching fast.
“I strongly encourage everyone to head over to our website, have a read of the strategy and complete the survey. Those who need offline copies of the documents can request these by calling 01305 221000 or e-mailing our Communications Team at comms@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk."
The council says there are 8 key areas to take action on:
Renewable energy
Waste
Buildings
Water
Food and Drink
Natural Assets
Economy
Transport
