A handbag, containing sentimental photographs was stolen from a car parked up near Tarrant Rushton airfeld.

It happened at around 5.30pm on Sunday 16th August, but Dorset Police have only just released the details.

The victim, a woman in her 60s, had left a bag underneath a seat, while she had taken her dog for a walk.

When she returned, a window had been smashed and the bag was missing.

Dorset Police have given us this picture of a handbag similar to the one that was taken

We're told that as well as the photos, the bag contained a cheque book holder, a purse and a wallet with bank cards inside.

Police Community Support Investigator Kate Hann, of Dorset Police, said:

"This incident has been extremely upsetting for the victim due to the loss of sentimental, irreplaceable photographs.

"I am continuing to carry out enquiries and would really like to reunite the victim with her stolen items. Therefore, I am appealing to anyone with information to please get in touch.

"As part of my investigation I have obtained an image of a similar handbag and I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who has seen a bag that looks like the one pictured discarded in the local area."
