Grenade found on a Dorset beach
The bomb squad carried out a controlled explosion.
A bomb disposal team from the Royal Navy was called out to deal with a grenade found on a beach in Dorset.
The discovery was made at Black Venn in Lyme Regis.
Lyme Regis Coastguard and Dorset Police were first on scene.
Photos were sent to the Royal Navy in Plymouth who dispatched a team of bomb disposal experts.
The beach was cordoned off and a controlled explosion took place.
A spokesperson for Lyme Regis Coastguard said:
"On their arrival, the EOD officers carried out a visual inspection and set up the necessary equipment to carry out a controlled explosion.
"Once the grenade and the charge had been detonated, the area was rechecked, and the beach reopened."
