A Dorset charity is calling for the no-fault evictions ban to be sped up as there’ve been record highs in youth homelessness.

There are currently 560 families living in B&Bs or hostels across the southwest, a rise of 8% from 2023.

Shelter Dorset tell us some children are spending months living out of suitcases in B&Bs, without their own space. They're calling for the ban of no-fault evictions to be sped up.

Kate Parker from Shelter Dorset tells us it’s effecting children’s social lives, education and family dynamic.

She says Labour must tackle the housing emergency: "These situations that families are living in are not just for one or two nights. They're for weeks, months and years. And this is why we're calling on this government to actually invest in genuinely affordable homes for families and the scrapping of no-fault evictions.
