Social, voluntary and community sector organisations in Dorset are being encouraged to apply for more financial support.

Dorset Council has announced a new round of grants through the Organisational Support Revenue Fund (OSRF).

It will provide core revenue support to community organisations that address the needs of disadvantaged, under served and marginalised communities in Dorset.

Social, voluntary and community sector organisations that support the needs of vulnerable people in the community and provide activities, particularly emergency, health and social care provision can apply for a grant of between £5,000 - £10,000 per annum for up to two years to help with their running costs.

Cllr Laura Miller, Dorset Council Portfolio Holder for Customer and Community Services, said:

“I’m delighted Dorset Council is able to offer this support to community and voluntary organisations.

“The hard work and dedication of individuals, volunteers and community groups in Dorset is immense, and the projects and events that we fund make such a real difference to people's lives.

“We look forward to receiving applications from a wide range of organisations.”

People First Dorset received an organisational revenue support grant last year for £16,500 over three years. Laura Kerr, Manager said:

“The funding has enabled us to continue working alongside adults with learning disabilities, developing welcoming and inclusive activities in their local community, and offering a variety of interventions which help to give beneficiaries a voice, to stay safe and become more confident.

“One of our projects will promote better employment opportunities for people with learning difficulties and build strong support networks they can access.”

All applications must be received by Friday 1 April.

Awards will be made on 20 April.
