Lorna Vassie from Corscombe is raising the money for the Rainbow Midwives at Yeovil District Hospial.

The midwives helped some of her close friends after the loss of their son at just two days old.

She wants to raise £500 to help train the unit's staff in 4D casting, which can be used to provide parents with a model of their childs hands or feet in the sad event that they die.

Lorna will be completing the walk from her home on an exercise bike, while her husband makes the full journey.

She said:

"There's nothing around this at the moment. I think knowing that my friends can provide this for some other family.

"I think it will give them a bit of satisfaction that they can do something to help other families.

"It is a very difficult situation, it's just something that no parents should ever have to go through."
