A florist who’s brightened up the high street in Weymouth for the last 30 years is closing her shop, but her business will continue to grow new shoots.

It's Fiona Penny’s last two days in St Thomas Street.

But it's by no means the end of the line for 'Sunflowers'.

Fiona says she’ll carry on doing what she loves, but she no longer wants the pressure of keeping a high street store open.

Fiona told Greatest Hits Radio Dorset:

"I’ve been here for 30 long lovely years and I feel it’s time for a change. I’m taking my business home to my purpose-built studio and I want to spend time doing what I enjoy without the pressures of a high street shop.

“People’s shopping habits have changed and we need to move with the times. A lot of our orders come from the internet. We’ve got a lovely web shop, we take a lot of phone orders, I’ve got a lot of local clients and regulars and I feel it’s time to move on and take my business home.”

Fiona says she’s been thinking about closing the shop for a while, but the pandemic has helped her make the decision quicker.

She added:

“Our van will still be seen bringing happiness and smiles to you all. Our contact details remain the same, only our high street presence will be gone.

“I’d like to thank you all and everyone for your long and loyal support.”
