Fireworks are coming back to Weymouth seafront this summer, but not all of them will be with a big bang.

Weymouth Town Council have announced a programme of saefront firework displays.

The free events will take place on every Monday in August (2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th) with all displays starting at 9.30pm.

Responding to feedback, the Town Council have made the decision to trial two lower noise displays during the summer season firework programme on the 16th and 23rd of August. The Town Council will then monitor feedback on the lower noise displays and make decisions on future displays. Truly silent fireworks are not currently available for large scale displays.

The Town Council are also encouraging the public to, where possible, leave their cars at home and walk or use public transport when getting to and from the displays.

Cllr Colin Huckle, Mayor of Weymouth Town Council, said:

"The fireworks on Weymouth Seafront are always extremely popular with local people and visitors, always creating a unique family friendly fun atmosphere in the town throughout the evening. We are delighted to announce this year's summer firework programme, which will include the first trials of the lower noise fireworks."

This year, Weymouth Town Council are offering local businesses the opportunity to benefit from the great exposure and commercial profile of the summer seafront firework programme by offering sponsorship packages. We are delighted to already welcome Helter Skelter Fun Park, Weymouth Beach as one of the local business sponsors.

The summer firework displays will be provided by Pains Fireworks and Sirotechnics with additional operational support from Masterplan Offshore, Dorset Council (including the Harbour Office), and Weymouth Town Council's Beach Office.

On the display nights, the Town Council will be running a competition to win £500 in cash. The competition, which is free to enter, has been run for many years with the support of Alexandra Gardens. Visitors can enter by visiting Alexandra Gardens between 7pm and 9pm on display nights - entry details and conditions will also be available on Weymouth Town Council's website.

The summer fireworks are part of the Weymouth annual events programme consisting of many events organised, supported, and enjoyed by numerous community groups, sports clubs, and event organisations. Weymouth Town Council are proud to work with the community to support, promote and help deliver these fabulous events.
