40 firefighters tackle commercial blaze in Shaftesbury

Firefighters extinguished a blaze at a commercial premises in Shaftesbury today.

6 crews from Shaftesbury, Gillingham, Sturminster Newton, Mere and Blandford were called to the premises at Longmead Industrial Estate.

It's thought the fire started accidentally in a machine and firefighters stopped it spreading to other rooms.

It's been described as a complex operation due to the chemicals and flammable material stored in the building.

The fire was contained to one room but there was smoke damage throughout the premises.

The fire started just before 7am this morning.
