A fire broke out at a commercial building on Rodden Row in Abbotsbury early this morning (14/1).

Crews from Weymouth, Dorchester, Bridport, Lyme Regis, and an aerial ladder platform team from Yeovil worked together to control the blaze, which started in the roof. Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue confirmed they were called to the scene at 7:26am.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets and a main jet to bring the fire under control. The aerial ladder platform was also used to remove roof tiles.

No injuries have been reported, and the stop message indicating the incident was under control came through at 10:14am.

Road closure and public advisories

Rodden Row remains closed due to the number of fire vehicles on-site, and people nearby have been advised to keep their doors and windows shut because of the smoke.

The cause of the fire will be investigated once the site has been confirmed as safe by fire officials.
