Crews called to fire at commercial property in Weymouth

The fire broke out in a premises in Church Road in Preston

There has been a fire overnight at a commercial premises in Weymouth.

Crews from Weymouth and Dorchester were called to the blaze in Church Road in Preston, just after 3am this morning.

It took around an hour and a half to put out.

There are no reports of any injuries.

An investigation into how the fire started is being carried out this morning.

A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue told Greatest Hits Radio Dorset:

"At 3.10am this morning, crews from Weymouth and Dorchester were called to Church Road, Weymouth following reports of a commercial property fire.

"On arrival, firefighters found smoke and flames issuing, with the fire located in the rear of the property.

"Six breathing apparatus wearers used hose reel jets and a main line to extinguish the fire – our stop came at 4.29am."
