Weymouth's Fayre in the Square is back this weekend after a two-year hiatus.

The fundraising event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 like many others because of the pandemic.

Today and tomorrow 15 acts will play in Hope Square raising money for Weymouth Rotary Club.

Weymouth Rotary Club vice president David Langridge said:

"There's nothing quite like live music. It will be a little emotional. When the first band strikes up with a crowd in front of it will be a really good thing to see.

"A big shout out to all the musicians because they've all donated the time totally free of charge which is incredible really especially given the situation all of us are in. But they all love playing at the event."

Saturday kicks off at 10:30 with a performance from Fayre in the Square stalwarts 'The Dorset Wrecks'. Each day's acts close up at 6pm. Alongside the music there will be food stalls, craft stalls and even rides for children.

David added:

"It is very much a fundraiser for us, so we have some fun doing it but we are raising money that will help local good causes basically.

"Obviously all the charities have struggled through the pandemic not being able to raise normal funds. We've managed to help a number of them but this will help give them a real big push and then we donate all of the money from the event."
