Farmer assaulted while trying to protect sheep from dog near Wool
The man was attacked by the dog's owner
A farmer's been assaulted on his own land, near Wool, while trying to prevent a dog from attacking his sheep.
This happened in a field near East Burton Road at around 5.30pm on Tuesday 6th September.
The farmer arrived in a vehicle to find a dog, described as a Doberman-type with black pointed ears, chasing after sheep.
He used his vehicle to protect the sheep and attempt to move the dog away.
The dog owner's then reported to have assaulted the farmer, and taken the keys to the vehicle - before leaving in the direction of Wool bridge.
The victim told the attacker to get his dog under control.
A man involved is described as:
- White
- Around six feet tall
- Stocky build
- Bald head
- Beard
- Wearing a grey hooded top with a basketball logo
- Purple shorts
- Black sliders
PC Max Vallance, of Purbeck police, said:
“This was a distressing incident for the victim and I am carrying out a number of enquiries to identify the offender.
“I would urge anyone who recognises the man and his dog from the descriptions given to please contact Dorset Police.
“Also, I would like to remind dog owners of the importance of keeping your dog on a lead when it is near livestock as it can have devastating consequences.”
