Scammers pretending to be the police are targeting Dorset again.

Police in Bridport have issued a warning.

It's after a resident in the Bridport area was called by someone who claimed to be a detective from the MET, saying they'd arrested a man who'd stolen their bank cards.

Dorset Police say this is a scam and the advice is to just hang up.

A spokesman for Bridport Police said:

"Should you receive a similar call, please just hang up and do not engage with the caller.

"If you are concerned a call from a Police Officer may be genuine, take the details of the caller, including full name, Force, Station and collar number. Hang up and call 101 and ask to speak to that Force to confirm a genuine call.

"Remember to NEVER give out or confirm any details the caller says and hang up straight away."
