Police appeal after fail-to-stop crash in Melplash

A car's suffered significant damage after an accident in Melplash where the other vehicle failed to stop

Officers investigating a fail-to-stop crash in Melplash in West Dorset are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Dorset Police received a report at 8.51pm on Tuesday (14 September) of a collision involving a silver Volkswagen Polo and another vehicle, believed to be a light-coloured BMW, on the A3066 at Crooked Oak Hill. The Volkswagen sustained significant damage and the other vehicle failed to stop at the scene.

Police Constable Paul Miners, of West Dorset police, said:

“We are continuing to investigate this incident and I would appeal to any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please come forward.

“I would also urge anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check their footage for anything of relevance.

“Finally, I would ask anyone who is aware of a vehicle matching the description given that has sustained damage in unexplained circumstances in recent days to please get in touch.”
