Environmental campaigners displayed banners from boats in Weymouth Bay yesterday.
Local members of Extinction Rebellion were protesting over the cruise ships anchored in the Bay.
They say according to a study by 'Friends of the Earth' on cruise line practices it's estimated that operators discharged more than one billion gallons of sewage into the ocean in 2017.
Extinction Rebellion also claim that research shows while at sea, cruise ships emit air pollution.
It was part of a day of action by the environmental group.
On Weymouth Beach campaigners occupied deckchairs in the shallows of the sea to demonstrate how they believe rising sea levels will threaten the beach within the next 30 years.
Their sign read:
“With climate change sea level rise we won’t have a beach to sit on – act now.”
Further up the beach, they used two dummies to warn against the dangers of ignoring the climate crisis, with the sign:
“We are in a climate crisis. Don’t bury your head in the sand.”
