Explore hidden gems with new Discover Dorchester app
Looking for something to do this half term? A new app's arrived just in time
Dorchester has it's very own app to help you explore just in time for half term.
Discover Dorchester is available on iPhone and Android smartphones.
The app acts as a directory for you to explore where to eat, shop or things you could do in and around the town.
The purpose of the 'Discover Dorchester App' is to promote the town, its heritage, attractions and the town's businesses. It's for visitors and locals alike so that they can discover how much there is to see and do in Dorchester, plan an itinerary, or just navigate around town when they arrive.
It's also fully integrated with apps like Google Maps, to help you get around, and JustEat so you can order food from places you see on it.
Phil Gordon, Dorchester BID Project Director said:
"This is a fantastic tool to provide you with information about almost anything you might want to know to help make your visit to town an enjoyable one. With great innovation and a lot of hard work, especially by the team at Key Digital, I think we have produced something incredibly special for our County Town.
"This app is the best tool in our toolkit now to give people that are coming to town for the first time more than a fighting chance of really enjoying their visit.
"I've spoken to a number of people that live even in Dorchester that tell me they've already discovered places and things to do in town they didn't know existed."
Neil Strudwick DBID Chairman said:
"The Dorchester BID started discussing the idea with our digital partners (Poundbury-based Key Digital) some time before Christmas as they had already developed an App for a holiday park client and felt that with some further development, it could work well for Dorchester!
"DBID had discussions about the proposed App with Dorchester Town Council early this year and we were delighted to learn that they would like to partner with us & jointly fund the App project".
