'Unexploded device' causing heavy traffic on Dorset road

Dorset Police are dealing with a possible unexploded device found in the river under a bridge in West Parley, Dorset.

It is causing heavy traffic between B3073 Christchurch Road, Parley Cross to A341 Wimborne Road at Northbourne Roundabout.

The force closed the A347 in Dorset at West Parley at 1:31pm today after the device was discovered but shortly reopened the road at 3pm.

A Spokesperson from there said:

"Dorset Police received a report at 1.31pm on Tuesday 8 June 2021 of a possible unexploded device in the river under the bridge on New Road in Bournemouth.

"Officers are currently have attended and are liaising with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team to assess the device and make it safe."
