Dorset Police are investigating a collision on the forecourt of the Esso petrol station at Chantry Fields in Gillingham.

A local man in his 80s was walking across the station just before 10.45am on Sunday (12th February) when he was struck by a black Mercedes Benz.

He suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The car driver wasn't hurt.

There's now an appeal for anyone who was at the petrol station and saw what happened to get in touch with officers.

PC Kier Dagnall said:

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the petrol station at the time and may have witnessed what happened to please come forward.

“I would also like to hear from any motorists in the vicinity who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam to help my investigation.”
