Durdle Door named UK's most 'Instagrammable' beach
A survey's looked at how many times it's been hashtagged
A Dorset beach has been named as the UK's most 'Instagrammable' - with another in the county also in the top 10.
A survey's looked at how many times a site's been hashtagged, with Durdle Door taking the top spot.
There have been 379,093 posts on the social media site from the Jurassic Coast site in the last year, famous for its natural limestone arch.
It's also a popular filming location, featuring in movies including Dunkirk, World War Z, and Far from the Madding Crowd.
The hashtag #durdledoor was used the most frequently on Instagram, featuring on 324,322 posts, followed by #durdledoorbeach (40,418 posts), and #durdledoordorset (14,353 posts).
Chesil Beach also features on the list, at number 9 in the UK, with a total of 55,372 hashtagged posts.
Mason Jones, a spokesperson for NoDepositRewards who carried out the survey said:
“In 2023, around 63% of UK holidaymakers planned a staycation instead of travelling abroad. This is no surprise, considering plenty of beautiful, scenic beaches spread across every part of the UK, which could easily rival those abroad when the sun is shining.
“With Durdle Door attracting more than 750,000 visitors each year, it is no surprise that it is also the most Instagrammable. With miles of stunning Jurassic coastline and a limestone arch standing at an impressive 200 feet tall, Durdle Door is the most scenic beach and the perfect location for a UK staycation.”
