Weymouth Police use drone to search for scrambler bikes

They were reportedly seen at Lorton Meadows and Teddy Bear Woods

Police in Weymouth have used a drone to investigate reports of scrambler bikes being used illegally on a nature reserve in Weymouth.

Officers were aided by the 'eye in the sky' to search an area of Lorton Meadows and Teddy Bear Woods yesterday afternoon. ( 26 July)

No one was found.

A spokesperson for Weymouth & Portland Police said:

"We understand this is a regular problem which impacts local residents and dog walkers in particular, please continue to report incidents to Dorset Police through the normal channels should you witness similar incidents.

"We are working with Dorset Council Ranger Officers to try and address this issue.

"Any persons caught using a motor vehicle on this land are likely to receive a section 59 warning and/or risk having the vehicle seized."
