A man's been arrested on suspicion of driving offences following a crash on the A353 at Osmington.

A vehicle failed to stop for police on the Esplanade in Weymouth, at 9.10pm on Saturday night (3rd August).

The same car - a silver Ford Mondeo - was involved in a single vehicle crash four minutes later, in which the car collided with a building.

The driver - a man in his 20s - was arrested and taken to hospital for injuries sustained in the crash which aren't thought to be serious.

He's since been discharged from hospital and released under investigation.

Sergeant Scott Williams, of Dorset Police, said:

“We are continuing to investigate this collision and I am appealing for any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please make contact with us.

“It is believed the vehicle travelled along the Esplanade in Weymouth before heading through Greenhill and up Preston Road before travelling along the A353 to Osmington.

“I would urge anyone who was driving in the vicinity around the relevant timeframe to please review any available dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything that might assist our enquiries.”

If you can help with any information about the collision, or the vehicle involved, you're asked to contact Dorset Police on 101, quoting reference number 55240118785.

You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
