Drive-thru Starbucks planned for Portland
It would be part of a new development at Osprey Quay.
There are plans for a new drive-through Starbucks on Portland.
Pure Town Planning are proposing to build a new drive-through unit and two commercial buildings at Osprey Quay.
A planning application says it would create 'significant economic benefit' to the area, including through the creation of jobs.
The plan also proposes a total of 76 car parking spaces across the site.
The drive-through coffee shop would occupy the western third of the site, and two, two-storey commercial buildings would occupy the eastern two thirds.
The developers say these would be used as nine business units.
It's anticipated the plans will have a visual impact on the area, as the site was previously undeveloped.
The planning application says:
"Clearly the proposal will have a visual impact on the character of the locality moving from an open undeveloped site to one which was developed. However, this site has long been envisaged for development in the Osprey Quay allocation and in the masterplan. On that basis outline planning permission has been granted on the site for development in the past.
"It is not considered that the proposal would cause any harm to the 'character, special qualities or natural beauty' of the Heritage Coast taking into context the site and surroundings."
