Dorset Police require information following 'suspicious fire' in Dorchester

Dorset Police would like anyone who has information about a ‘suspicious fire’ at a bin store in Dorchester on Thursday (March 11) to come forward.

They attended a fire at a property in Foundry Place around 22:40, along with the fire service and the fire was extinguished.

A 48-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He has been released on police bail as detectives continue to make enquiries.

Detective Constable Charlie Soutine, of Weymouth CID, said: “Our investigation into this fire is ongoing and I would urge anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area on the evening of Thursday 11 March 2021 to please contact us.

“I would also urge anyone who may have been driving in the area and has dashcam fitted or residents in the vicinity with home CCTV to check their footage for the relevant period.”
