There will be increased police presence in Weymouth town centre today, due to two planned demonstrations taking place.

Dorset Assistant Chief Constable, Mark Callaghan, released a statement on X saying they will aim to 'enable peaceful protest'.

The announcement comes amongst the news of another evening of unrest across the country with multiple arrests made in cities, including, Bristol, Belfast, Hull, Manchester and London.

The Assistant Chief Constable asks that "people enjoy what Dorset has to offer, but consider the increased demands the warm weather has on our public services."

The prime minister and home secretary have promised the police their "full support" after violent disorder in towns and cities across England and Northern Ireland.
